What Is Floatation Therapy?

Flotation pods, also known as Sensory Deprivation Pods, are a private, lightless and sound proof pod that allows you to float like a cork in 10 inches of clean water with 1,000 lbs of medical grade Epsom salt dissolved in it.

Stress, tension and pain have formed over time and will take some time to experience the greatest relief—luckily, floating is a relaxing, fun, & effortless way to do so!
BOOK A FLOAT
  • During a float, your body is suspended in 10 inches of water that is heated to the same temperature as your skin and contains 800 lbs of Epsom salts. The Epsom salts, by themselves, have a wide range of incredible health benefits.

  • Your body fully relaxes and you really don’t realize how un-relaxed your body normally is until it fully unwinds in a float tank – and your mind is free to relax in nothingness, reflect on solutions to your concerns, or simply wander into other realms and states.

  • The ultimate goal is for your brain to achieve a Theta state, which brings forward heightened receptivity, flashes of dreamlike imagery and inspiration.

I called one Saturday afternoon, I had the most excruciating neck pain, I was even struggling to swallow. I called 30 mins before closing time, that day they were going to close even earlier. I think they heard my voice of desperation, they said they would wait until I would show up. He cracked my neck, and immediately tears started to run down my face, it was a sense of relief but very painful. He adjusted the other side, and then let me lay there with ice on my neck. John, took the time to help me, I will forever be grateful. He explained to me that I sprained my neck, and is now helping me with issues that i have in my neck. I am now a loyal customer and have purchased the monthly adjustments just because I trust him and can tell that he definitely cares to help.

Dr. John is by far THE BEST CHIROPRACTOR that I have seen since my injuries & associated problems started 15+ years ago. I have seen a countless number of other "so-called" chiropractors, but Dr. John Perea is definitely in a league of his own!Suffering from sciatica and a herniation at L5-S1, my medical doctor initially said that I would likely need surgery, but my orthopedic doctor recommended that I try chiropractic adjustments and massage therapy first.Well that's where the last 15 years of looking for a good chiropractor have left me - STILL needing treatment. It wasn't until I met with Dr. John & Marilyn (massage therapist) that I realized what a chiropractic office SHOULD be like & WHAT he should do to address my sciatic and issues stemming from a herniation at L5-S1.Dr. John always ensures that his patients feel welcomed, at ease and comfortable with both himself as well as his procedures. He combines all of the above with a perfect mix of professionalism & empathy making it a welcomed "joy" rather than a chore to go to a chiropractic appointment, not to mention the awesome trigger point massages I get from Marilyn.Lastly, I am almost always pain-free until my next appointment, and one very specific problem area that has consistently plagued me over the last 15 years, in a matter of only a couple visits, has COMPLETELY HEALED in that area!I would recommend Dr. John over anyone, especially all of the other Denver Chiropractors hands down!! It doesn't matter if you live next door in Downtown Denver or 200 miles away - you MUST SEE HIM, you'll be well-pleased with your choice in chiropractic care!

We purchased a very affordable package & look forward to further adjustments. Nice office, friendly staff & great chiropractor care!

If your even just slightly considering getting an adjustment I would go see the miracle worker doctor John. Not to mention I can get thru a whole day of working and driving without any issues it is amazing.

The fact that they do walk ins was amazing. I came in after a long day for an adjustment (my first one ever) and Dr P made it so easy to understand the importance of the adjustment before we started. Then, me being pregnant he was very careful with my body & made sure that he explained as he was going. Such a genuine and quick & easy place and people. In and out feeling better posture and alignment right away.

I have been having bad headaches for some time now. After a few visits with Dr. John I have had major improvements. I am able to sleep better and haven't had to take pain meds to cope with the pounding. Give them a try, I did and I am so thankful for going.

I was amazed how many services they offer under one roof, I started with float tank 1.5 hours, right into an hour massage, then got chiropractic. All were superb, clean & affordable. As I was checking out noticed 3 more spa type services I didn’t know were in the same office. Referred a girlfriend who went in the next day for all the same with same results👍🏻. Yes this place has it figured out.

I went in 20 minutes after reading some reviews and scoping out the website. I was barely able to walk myself in with a pain level of 9, and less than 30 minutes later I was waking out feeling maybe a 1 in terms of levels of pain that he had warned me would most likely happen since my body was adjusting and explained that with some at home care should go down to a zero. Dr. Perea was friendly, efficient and highly skilled. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a trusted expert. Looking forward to future appointments.

Float Therapy FAQ

It’s totally naturally to have some questions about floating when you aren’t familiar with the practice. Here are answers to questions most frequently asked by first-time float therapy clients:

We have to comply with stringent health and safety regulations. The water contains 97% salt so the solution is sterile. We add a limited amount of (swimming pool) chemicals to ensure it’s clean. We filter the water three times thoroughly between each float session. The size of our filter is 10 micron (for reference, the size of a human hair is 75 micron) so everything, no matter how small, gets trapped in it. Additionally, we test the water daily to ensure a sanitary environment.

To prevent contamination of the water from bacteria, please DO NOT schedule a float if you are menstruating, just had a colonic, or have hemorrhoids.

We also request that you do not float if:

  • You have not been shown how to use the tank by a qualified person
  • You are currently under the influence of alcohol or other drugs
  • You have open or bleeding wounds
  • You have a fresh tattoo
  • You suffer from incontinence or uncontrolled epilepsy
  • You have been medically advised not to float
  • You have a special or lacquered hairdo, which you wish to keep
  • You have dyed your hair recently – please wait until the water runs clear when washing your hair before you float
  • You are not confidant of being able to get out due to lack of personal mobility (please request help getting in and out if unsure)

Yes, absolutely! The Epsom salt in the water can help to alleviate aches, pains, and swelling often associated with pregnancy and the weightless environment will help take the extra weight off of your spine. Many pregnant women find floating helps them create a stronger bond with the unborn baby. We strongly suggest checking with your physician or midwife before coming in.

In the gravity free environment the body balances and heals internally as all the senses are rested. Research shows that floating measurably reduces blood pressure and heart rate while lowering the levels of stress related chemicals in the body. Old injuries and aches (especially back pain), experience relief as floating helps blood circulation.

During a float, you produce slower brainwaves patterns, known as theta waves, (normally experienced only during deep meditation or just before falling asleep). This is usually accompanied by vivid imagery, very clear, creative thoughts, sudden insights and inspirations or feelings of profound peace and joy, induced by the release of endorphins, the body’s natural opiates.

Because of these effects, floating is used effectively in the treatment of depression and addictions, including smoking and alcohol. It is also used in schools and universities as tools to enhance learning.

Yes, you float within your own individual room, so there is no need to wear a swimsuit. Our room has its own shower and is yours exclusively use for the duration of your session.

Our tank is able to accommodate one person at a time. If you are looking to come in with a friend or loved one, we are more than happy to accomadate you by booking one appointment after the other.

No. Because the water contains high salt levels it doesn’t rob your skin of salt (which is what causes wrinkling). Rather, it leaves you skin soft and silky.

It’s OK… many people are, but we use float tanks and you have the entire room to yourself so you can feel free to step out or stand up inside the tank. Also, the light is controlled from inside, giving you total control of your environment. There is also an alert button located within the tank that you can press to alert the staff that you require assistance. Finally, the room may be larger than you think, measuring approximately 8 feet long, 7 feet tall, and 5 feet wide.

Floating, as with other things, doesn’t suit everybody. It needs willingness on your part to let go and see what happens. You may need to float a few times before you are able to relax completely, both physically and mentally. Depending on your own journey through life, a float might provide an hour of total physical relaxation or a profound healing experience, emotionally and spiritually transforming. Floating can be a wonderful aid to opening doors into your inner world, gradually allowing access to those deeper levels at which real changes take place.
